An unforgettable celebration of tradition, fire, and flavor in the heart of Adana – Adana is once again on fire—literally and figuratively. The 9th International Adana Taste Festival opened its doors with the theme “From Generation to Generation,” transforming Merkez Park into a vibrant culinary stage. The opening ceremony, hosted under the patronage of the Governor’s Office, drew a lively crowd of chefs, city officials, and flavor enthusiasts eager to experience the magic of Adana’s iconic dishes.
As the festival’s traditional fire was lit, the scent of kebab and spices filled the air. A colorful cortege marched through the park, and local bands added rhythm to the atmosphere. Visitors flocked to the food stands to savor the city’s legendary delicacies—juicy kebabs, rich liver dishes, spicy şırdan, refreshing turnip juice, and mouthwatering desserts that tell the story of this city’s culinary soul.
A City of Flavor and Culture
Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger took the stage to remind everyone why Adana stands as one of Turkey’s leading gastronomic cities. He emphasized that Adana was the first city in the country to build a festival tradition around taste, making it a cultural bridge to the future. Köşger highlighted the city’s deep roots as a crossroads of Mediterranean and Mesopotamian civilizations, shaping a cuisine that’s as generous as its people.

The Governor also shared that Adana is in the final stage of applying for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of gastronomy. With over 500 traditional dishes and a strong cultural identity, the city aims to shine on the global stage.

Güngör Geçer, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, expressed the city’s ambition to make Adana a global culinary brand. “Our dream of a world-renowned Adana is becoming real step by step. Adana is no longer just an industrial and agricultural hub—it’s also a city of culture and tourism,” he said.
With strong cooperation between local authorities and passionate food advocates, Adana is positioning itself at the heart of a regional tourism network together with other gastronomic powerhouses like Hatay, Gaziantep, Mersin, Şanlıurfa, and Kahramanmaraş.

The night continued with music and celebration as Nazende Polyphonic Turkish Music Choir took the stage, adding another flavor—this time through sound—to the festival’s opening.
