ISKI WATER PRICES IN ISTANBUL

In Istanbul, the water was increased by 40.38 percent. The increase decision was unanimously adopted in the IBB Assembly. In the statement made by ISKI after the decision to raise the water, it was stated that the unit price would be calculated lower with the implementation of the right to free humanitarian water use.

The last time the water was increased by 29 percent was in April last year.

In a session, ISKI (Water and Sewage Establishment of IBB) proposed a raise of about 99.8 percent due to the increased personnel, electricity and natural gas costs. The proposal for houses was as follows:

16.65 TL, per cubic meters between 0-15 cubic meters, 24.90 TL between 16-30 cubic meters, 4.50  TL 31 cubic meters and above. This offer was found too high and eventually a total increase of 40.38 percent for all levels was unanimously accepted.

WITH THE HUMANITARIAN RIGHT TO USE WATER, THE UNIT PRICE WILL DECREASE

In a statement made by ISKI after the decision, following information was shared: The unit price of water in the 1st group Residential Tariff (0-15 cubic meters) which concerns 75 percent of our people is increased from 8.33 TL to 11.69 TL.”

“However, when the humanitarian water right application, which ensures that 0.5 cubic meters of every 2.5 cubic meters of water is free, is taken into account, the water unit price, which is 7.22 TL, will be calculated as 10.13 TL. According to the latest situation, the new unit prices are as follows: The unit price between 0-15 cubic meters in residential buildings decelerated from 7.22 TL to 10.13 TL. The unit price for use over 16 cubic meters in residential buildings has risen from 12.51 TL to 17. 56.”
