ISRAELI COUPLE ARRESTED IN TURKEY

A statement has been released by Israel regarding an Israeli couple who were arrested for allegedly taking a photo of President Erdogan’s house.

Israeli couple and a Turkish citizen who were with them were detained for allegedly taking a photo of President Erdogan’s house from the Camlıca Tower and taking a video recording, and were arrested on suspicion of “political or military espionage” by the court they were taken to.

Israeli media wrote that the couple in question were detained while photographing the Dolmabahçe Palace during a boat trip. “Their only crime was to photograph Erdogan’s palace during a boat trip” said a lawyer for the detained couple, whose statements were published in the Haaretz newspaper.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry denied that the arrested couple worked for the state, the BBC reported. Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said he hoped that the detained couple would be visited by ministry officials in prison as soon as possible.
