The number of people prosecuted for their debts in Turkey is on the rise

The number of people who are legally monitored due to personal credit card debt has been recorded as 310 thousand in January-August. The number of people who followed up on the personal loan side reached 694 thousand.

According to the data of the “Risk Center of the Turkish Banks Association”, the number of people who were subjected to legal proceedings for personal loans or personal credit card debt in January-August is 855 thousand.

The number of people who are being legally monitored solely for personal credit card debt increased by 12 percent in the January-August period of 2021.

As of August 2021, there are 2 million 586 thousand 70 people who have not paid their personal loan debt and have ongoing debt, and 2 million 467 thousand 293 people who have ongoing credit card debt.

On the other hand, as of August 2021, the receivables to be liquidated on personal loans increased by 6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year to TL 22.2 billion. The ratio of receivables to be liquidated to total loans was recorded as 2.4 percent with a decrease of 0.3 percentage points.
