AK Party points to spring for ‘fundamental solution’ in electricity
The government which has decided to take action after high electricity bills created discomfort in society, is working on alternatives that can reduce bills. The tariff for residential users was as follows: As of 1st January 1,37 kurus for up to 150 kWh per month and 2 TL 6 kurus for users consuming over this quota. President Tayyip Erdogan had announced that they had increased 150 to 210 kilowatt-hours following complaints, to improve the situation a little in favor of consumers.
Most recently, the minister in charge has made following statement in regards: “Both our ministry and the Energy Market Regulatory Agency are considering these requests. Nothing is clear yet, we will share it with the public when it comes out. There are requests from our artisans, small businesses and a number of NGOs. We evaluate all of them.”
A member from ruling party shared following on the other hand: “It could be an increase of quotas or even tax-related situations as well as an option to subsidize. This is a position that will be evaluated together with the budget. I hope that the commissioning of both the nuclear plant and the Black Sea gas will be a fundamental solution in order to solve them completely, and commodity prices in the world will also fall with the spring months.”
