Katsumata Takahiko, the Ambassador of Japan to Turkey, stated that the number of Japanese tourists visiting Cappadocia will increase. Speaking at a program organized by Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University, Ambassador Katsumata Takahiko mentioned that in 2024, both Turkey and Japan will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their diplomatic relations with various activities in both countries.

In his special remarks, Takahiko said, “I am very pleased to be in Nevsehir and Cappadocia, which is one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey. Japan and Turkey, two countries located in the far east and far west of Asia, have had diplomatic relations for many years. In the future, we will work to further strengthen our relationship.”

“NUMBER OF VISTORS TO ISTANBUL AND CAPPADOCIA WILL INCREASE”

He also emphasized that the number of visitors to Istanbul and Cappadocia will increase, saying, “Next year marks the 100th anniversary of this friendly relationship. Our relations with Turkey are growing in terms of politics, economics, and culture. We want to work together to open a new chapter.

DURING PANDEMIC TOURISM ACTIVITIES BETWEEN 2 COUNTRIES DECREASED SUBSTANTIALLY

The whole world experienced the pandemic. During this time, the number of tourists from Japan to Turkey and vice versa decreased significantly. We have won the battle against the pandemic, and our relationship is improving. Turkey is sending planes to Japan. With this, the number of visitors to Istanbul and Cappadocia will increase. I would like to emphasize that there will be more tourists coming from Japan than before.”
