Water levels in Istanbul’s reservoirs drop to 21 percent

The filling rate of the reservoirs that supply water to Istanbul has decreased to 21.01 percent. According to data from the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI), as of today, the filling rate of the reservoirs, which was 21.69 percent on October 15, has now dropped to 21.01 percent.

The water levels were recorded as 10.46 percent in Istrancalar, 10.35 percent in Terkos, 6.14 percent in Sazlıdere, 22.96 percent in Alibey, 4.08 percent in Büyükçekmece, 44.88 percent in Ömerli, 32.43 percent in Darlık, 16.5 percent in Elmalı, 3.35 percent in Pabuçdere, and 5.96 percent in Kazandere.

The total water storage capacity of the reservoirs and ponds that supply the city, with a maximum capacity of 868,683,000 cubic meters, currently stands at 182,005,000 cubic meters.

In addition to the reservoirs, Istanbul received 607 million cubic meters of water from Yeşilçay and Melen in 2023.

Filling rates for the past nine years

According to ISKI statistics, as of October 21, the reservoir filling rates were 66.22 percent in 2015, 40.43 percent in 2016, 51.69 percent in 2017, 52.76 percent in 2018, 44.37 percent in 2019, 32.07 percent in 2020, 47.03 percent in 2021, and 43.48 percent in 2022, while today’s rate is recorded as 21.01 percent.
