MONKEY POX IN THE WORLD

The World Health Organization has taken a new decision on the monkey pox virus, which is also seen in Turkey. The WHO has declared a ‘global emergency’ over the outbreak.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Europe, Dr. Hans Kluge had shared that cases of monkey pox had increased by 3 times in the last 3 weeks in the European region.

He said, “I reiterate my call on governments and civil society to increase their work in the coming weeks and months to prevent monkey pox from manifesting itself in a large geographical area. Urgent and coordinated action is imperative to reverse the gradual spread of this disease.”

CASES SEEN IN TURKEY AS WELL

Health Minister Koca had announced the detection of monkey pox in Turkey in a social media post on June 30.

He had said “Monkey pox disease was detected in one of our patients. The patient is 37 years old, he has immunodeficiency. The patient isolated himself. Contact tracing was carried out, no other cases were found. As is known, this disease is not transmitted by breathing, but by close physical contact.”
