ASELSAN starts huge investment project for production of remote controlled weapons

ASELSAN Konya Weapon Systems Company has started the investment project for a plant to produce remote controlled weapons in Konya. The factory will be built at Pınarbası, Selçuklu District.

It is reported that Turkey has taken giant steps in recent years in exportation of defense industry products. Experts note that the defense industry exported products worth more than US$ 2 billion last year which is considered to be below the potential of the domestic industry.

The factory to be built will be targeting much bigger figures as voiced by the management by increasing the amount of exports to US$ 10 billion which certainly requires some hard work on top of serious capacity expansion.

The number of people actively working in the industry is reported to be around 40 thousand which would not be enough to achieve above mentioned goal. The solution is to prepare many more qualified personnel for the human resource needed to realize voiced target. Needless to say the industry would have to be upgraded using latest technologies available in every part of the country as well. The management looks forward to becoming a new ASELSAN – which is now one of the leading technology companies in the defense industry.

On the other hand the new investment which is worth US$ 65 million, will also contribute to the economy of Konya and generate additional employment.
