Authority announces the amount of fine to be paid for not wearing a mask in Istanbul

After making the use of masks compulsory in open spaces in Istanbul, the punishment to be given to those who do not comply with this rule was announced. The governor’s office announced that the penalty was set at TL 900 to ensure enforcement unity and eliminate hesitations.

In accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health Coronavirus (corona virus) Science Board, the decision taken by the Governor’s Office of Istanbul and the provincial Pandemic board made it necessary to wear masks in open spaces in Istanbul.

Following the decision, the Istanbul Provincial Public Health Board held an emergency meeting last night to determine the amount of fine to be charged. After the meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Cemalettin Özdemir the penalty for not wearing a mask in Istanbul was determined as TL 900.

A written statement made by the governor of Istanbul said “the decision was taken to recommend that the administrative fine be commended as 900 TL to those who act contrary to the obligation to use masks in order to ensure the implementation unity and eliminate hesitations throughout our province”.
