Authority works overtime to meet passport requests before year end
As the end of the year approaches, an increase in passport applications has caused a work load in population directorates. It was announced that additional the directorates had started overtime due to the demands reaching 48 thousand per day.
The General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs has started additional working hours to meet the passport application requests. The directorate general made a statement regarding the reports that “there was no passport appointment in December” in some press outlets.
The annual passport demand, which has been around 2 million for many years, exceeded 3 million 650 thousand as of December 10 this year, the statement stressed, and it is expected that the demand will double by the end of the year.
