SUCCESS OF TURKISH MUSEOLOGY

Three museums from Turkey received awards from the European Museum Forum on May 5th. The Troy Museum was awarded the European Museum of the Year Special Award for 2020, the Wood Market Modern Museum was awarded the European Museum of the Year Special Award for 2021 and the Bayburt Kenan Yavuz Ethnographic Museum was awarded the Silletto award for 2021.

Turkey has been in a great effort to create a synergy of culture and tourism. It is targeted to reduce commitment to the concept of sand-sea-sun and spread tourism to Anatolia, providing product diversity. Within this framework the ultimate goal is determined as to support this approach by mobilizing the potential of Anatolia and using unique contemporary museology.

SUCCESS OF TURKISH MUSEOLOGY

Along with our other two museums, the Troy Museum is a symbol of the authority’s understanding of contemporary museology. Therefore, while developing the concept of “thematic years” in the promotion in 2018, the ministry has acted with this idea; the Troy Museum was placed at the center of the promotion strategy that year and the new museum was positioned as “a gift from Turkey to the world”. Thus, Turkey showed the world that it offered a different perspective outside the perception of Tourism.
