Babadag, world’s best paragliding center in Fethiye hosts 166,701 paragliders in 2019

Babadag at Oludeniz (Fethiye) also known as Blue Lagoon district welcomes thousands of local and foreign tourists who want to paraglide every year. Holidaymakers taking off by paragliding from Mount Babadağ have the opportunity to watch a magnificent bird’s-eye view of wonderful Ölüdeniz. Adrenaline-junkie holidaymakers experience exciting minutes at an altitude of about 2 thousand meters above the ground with the acrobatics of the pilots.

Babadag, which is one of the best paragliding centers in the world, is home to a large number of adrenaline-junkie local and foreign tourists and makes an important contribution to the economy of the region by increasing its flight numbers every year.

Officials in charge of the center have stated that Babadağ’ is among the world’s leading air sports center adding 166 thousand 701 people had made the flight from Babadağ in 2019. They also note that the target for 2020 is to catch 200 thousand flights.

Officials also comment that the continuing construction of the cable car at the place would be a great advantage for Fethiye as the completion of the cable car is supposed to increase the number of flights and a million people annually are expected to travel to Babadag by cable car.

The administration has planned to build three restaurants at Babadag, as well. Thus, the cable car is expected to make a great contribution to Fethiye economically.

Generally speaking paragliding pilots and tourism people were satisfied with paragliding flights done in 2019. Regarding the issue professionals say, “Those who fly from Babadağ have the opportunity to watch not only Ölüdeniz but also Fethiye. Tourists from many countries of the world come to Fethiye only for paragliding. Especially those who see aerial Oludeniz views on social media definitely prefer Babadag for paragliding. Flight numbers in 2019 also point to climbing interest in Babadag. We think the target set in 2020 will be achieved. Hopefully this year we will have a good season in line with our expectations.”
