The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its list of “Imitation or Adulterated Foods.” Among the recent additions, a major scandal was revealed involving a 5-star hotel in Antalya, Kemer, which served customers what it claimed to be “Adana kebab” but was actually made from poultry instead of beef.

News continues to emerge that threatens food safety for millions of citizens in Turkey. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry updated the “Imitation or Adulterated Foods” list on its website, and the most notable entry was related to food fraud at a luxury 5-star hotel.

CHICKEN INSTEAD OF BEEF IN ADANA KEBAB

The updated list, dated January 8, reveals that at the Imperial Sunland Hotel, one of the most luxurious hotels in Antalya, poultry was used in the Adana Kebab mix instead of beef. This fraudulent practice was highlighted in the list.

Other entries include Safir Baklava in Kahramanmaraş Dulkadir, where peanuts were used instead of pistachios in baklava. Additionally, Bel-et’s beef fatty minced meat was found to contain poultry, and Balbis Spice’s oregano product was found to contain foreign substances.
