Biontech co-founders: “Three doses of BioNTech vaccine protect against Omicron variant”

Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci, co-founders of BioNTech, who made important statements about the Omicron mutation of Kovid-19 (also called the super variant) said third-dose vaccines should be given to better protect against the Omicron variant. According to Sputnik, the founders of BioNTech shared following information at a press conference:

“Initial data have revealed that the third dose of BioNTech vaccine can provide an adequate level of protection against the Omicron variant. The data we have clearly show the value of the third dose. If necessary, we can make a new vaccine against the Omciron variant ready by March. At this stage, it is best to increase the antibody and T cell levels so that the dose of the reminder is to provide better protection.

We observed that three doses of the BioNTech vaccine inactivated the Omicron variant. Our first set of data shows that the third dose can provide an adequate level of protection from severe disease caused by the Omicron variant.”

Omicron scanning is performed at 17 locations in Turkey

For the Omicron variant of the coronavirus that has appeared in South Africa and is spreading rapidly around the world, screening is being carried out at 17 locations in Turkey. However, despite spreading so rapidly, no additional measures or restrictions are expected to be taken in Turkey in relation to Omicron, which has not yet been reported in cases of severe illness or death.
