LIZ TRUSS UK PM

Liz Truss is Britain’s new prime minister. In the competition she entered with former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak, Truss received 57.4 percent of the vote and became the 3rd female prime minister of the United Kingdom. In her first statement after being elected, Truss stated that she would give importance to the economy and energy fields.

The name for the replacement for Boris Johnson, who resigned as Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Conservative Party in the UK on July 7, has been announced.

Speaking after the result was announced, Truss said: “I will set out a brave plan to cut taxes and grow our economy over the next two years.”

“I will take care of the energy crisis, I will take care of people’s energy bills, but also take care of our long-term problems with energy supply,” the new prime minister said.

The new PM will take over the task of forming a government from Elizabeth and take office, to start working in “Number 10”, the Prime Minister’s Office in Downing Street.
