British Foreign Office issues travel warning for tourists planning to visit Turkey

The British Foreign Office has issued warnings to tourists who will travel to Turkey with the guide it has prepared for its citizens. With the start of the tourist season and the recent depreciation of the Turkish lira against the British pound, the British Foreign Ministry shared a statement about Turkey, which is a popular destination for many British citizens.

In the text prepared by the Ministry as a guide for the British, it was stated that British tourists should be careful in Turkey. According to the news in Sözcü newspaper, more than a million British People are expected to come to Turkey on vacation, and it was recommended not to go within 10 kilometers of the Syrian border and not to go to the cities of Şırnak and Hakkari.

“OUR PRIORITY IS SAFETY”

Noting that no trip could be guaranteed to be safe, the statement said, “Those who will go to Turkey should also take out appropriate travel insurance.” The British authorities, who warn their citizens with such statements at certain intervals, had come up with similar announcements in the past.

British officials also made statements to local media. Speaking to the Independent, officials said: “The safety of British citizens is our main concern. We regularly review the travel advice for each country and region. The changes in terrorism in the travel advice area show that the terrorist threat can now come from a more diverse group.” It was also underlined that these warnings were advisory in nature.
