British organization reports: The world’s first trillionaire is coming

Oxfam’s annual inequality report reveals that billionaires’ total wealth is set to reach $15 trillion in 2024, marking a record increase. Oxfam predicts that there could be five trillionaires in the world within the next ten years, with Tesla CEO Elon Musk being a candidate to become the first trillionaire by 2027.
Oxfam, the global charity organization, published its inequality report for 2024, highlighting the staggering pace at which billionaires are accumulating wealth, further deepening global income inequality. According to the report, the combined wealth of the world’s richest individuals grew from $13 trillion to $15 trillion in just one year. This increase is the second-largest since Oxfam began keeping records. The wealthiest 1% of the global population now controls 45% of the world’s wealth, while 44% of the global population is trying to survive on less than $6.85 a day.
Amitabh Behar, Executive Director of Oxfam International, emphasized the growing inequality, stating, “The rapidly increasing accumulation of wealth and power by billionaires is leading us toward the age of trillionaires. This economic structure poses a serious threat to humanity.”
Elon Musk on the path to becoming a trillionaire
According to predictions by Informa Connect Academy, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is a contender to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027. According to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Musk’s current net worth is approximately $440 billion.
Oxfam’s report calls for fairer tax policies and economic regulations to reduce wealth inequality. However, the current situation indicates that global inequality is continuing to deepen.
