Pesticide alert in food products! Expert’s warning: Vegetables have high pesticide levels

Ulaş Kırım, the President of the İzmir Branch of the Chamber of Food Engineers (TMMOB), called on the Ministry of Agriculture to publish a pesticide list similar to the counterfeit-adulterated products list.
He emphasized that an effective inspection mechanism needed to be established and that increasing the employment of agricultural and food engineers was crucial. Kırım also highlighted that citizens could reduce pesticide residues by washing vegetables and fruits with vinegar and baking soda solutions.
He pointed out that pesticides tended to remain on vegetables like green and red peppers, lettuce, and parsley, and suggested that washing them thoroughly, especially with vinegar and baking soda water, could help reduce pesticide levels.
