A leading manufacturer of innovative heat transfer and fluid carrying cooling system components for consumer and commercial refrigeration units is set to open a new production plant in the Manisa province of Turkey in response to an increase in global demand for its refrigeration products.

Bundy is a global operation with production plants in Italy, Germany, Hungary, Turkey and Brazil. The company employs 1,000 people. Bundy has been in business for over 60 years specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of heat transfer and cooling system components for the world’s major original equipment manufacturers.

The new production plant in Manisa is part of 3.4 million USD investment following a successful year where the fortunes of the group have been transformed under the ownership of Grandholm Production Services Ltd which acquired the business in October 2018. Within 15 months of taking control Bundy recovered from a loss of 5.9 million USD to an operating profit of 2.9 million USD in 2019.

Despite the global pandemic, which did curtail output earlier this year, the company has recovered and is now back in full production. The new plant is 30km south of the existing facility and will significantly extend capacity and production.

‘The new facility underlines our commitment to manufacturing in Turkey and is a significant investment for the group” said Sertuğ Özgür, Bundy’s Group Chief Financial Officer.

“It underlines our confidence in the global market that we are making the investment at this time as we are determined to support our clients in the wake of the pandemic as they look for shorter supply lines to secure the vital components that we manufacture. We plan to be in full production by the end of this year and our new plant will support our other production plants in Hungary, Germany and Italy” added Sertuğ Özgür.

The new manufacturing facility offers 11,000 sqm of production space with 800 sqm of office space.

While Bundy has an extensive product portfolio, production in Turkey, apart from its tube line, is concentrated on door warmer assemblies. This is one of Bundy’s speciality products designed to circulate warm refrigerant around the cabinet door flange and provide an energy-efficient solution, while eliminating condensation around freezer and fridge/freezer door frames. The Turkish plant will also manufacture skin condensers and wire-on-tube condensers.

It is anticipated that the new plant will lead to a steady increase in employment as global demand for products is set to rise in response to the challenges that food, health and energy efficiency are placing on the refrigeration industry.

More details about the group: Bundy Refrigeration has over 60 years of experience in the design, manufacture and supply of innovative heat transfer and fluid carrying cooling system components, for the refrigeration and household appliance industry.
