TURKISH MEDICAL ASSOCIATION

The Central Council of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) has asked for support for the strike to be held on Wednesday, December 15, saying, “We ask you to support us by not contacting medical institutions except in urgent circumstances.”

Recently, a proposal to regulate the rights of physicians and dentists to improve was withdrawn at the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly.

The items removed from the proposal by the motion of the AKP deputies had been referred to the Parliamentary Health Commission for evaluation and expansion of its scope. After that, the health professional organizations decided to strike.

The TTB asked for support for the one-day strike to be held in 81 provinces on Wednesday, December 15, with a statement entitled “Our call on society” as follows:

“We cannot work in an environment where our labor is so ignored and worthless. We have objections to draft laws that are quickly introduced and withdrawn at the same speed as they mock our labor. Health cannot be expected from health workers who are exhausted, whose profession is worthless, whose labor is ignored, and whose working conditions are unhealthy. ‘

Our Demands Are For You, For Us, For All Of Us… We are side by side in the struggle for health. The health of society can only be possible with the health of health workers. We are going on strike on Wednesday, December 15th.

Our services will not be denied to emergency patients, dialysis patients, pregnant women, cancer patients in the care of intensive care, COVID-19 patients (or those with symptoms) to apply to health institutions. No one thinks about the health of our patients better than us. Our task today is for a better health care system, for our rights. We ask you to support us by not contacting medical institutions except in urgent circumstances. With your support for this action, we will raise our hope for a healthy country.”
