Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, “We want to fill the new page we have opened with Egypt with joint projects, success stories, and we also agreed today to take concrete steps to improve relations in the coming period.” said.

Cavusoglu spoke at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri after their one-to-one and inter-delegation talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Stating that he was pleased to host Şukri, Çavuşoğlu said that he had met with his counterpart for the third time in the last month.

Çavuşoğlu said, “We are pleased with the momentum our relations have gained since our presidents met in Doha. Today, I reiterated our will to continue this momentum to my counterpart and my brother Shukri. We want to fill the new page we have opened with Egypt with joint projects and success stories, and we also agreed today to take concrete steps to improve relations in the coming period.”

Emphasizing that Turkey-Egypt relations and cooperation were important, Cavusoglu said, “From now on, we will work in closer cooperation on Libya. In our meeting today, we actually saw that our views were not very different and we could think differently about some methods, but we needed to cooperate more closely by working on a roadmap. We will continue to work together in the coming period.”

Cavusoglu said that they had also discussed the issue of Syria, informed Sukri about the upcoming quadrennial meetings adding “Permanent peace and stability in Syria are important for all of us. Serious steps need to be taken for this. We agree on this. We will also be in close cooperation on this issue again. We will exchange views.”
