Çimsa ÇBK Mersin Women’s Basketball Team won the ‘ING Turkish Women’s Cup 2025’ and also reached the final in the ‘EuroLeague Final 6’, to represent Turkey in the best possible way.

Çimsa is the second-largest white cement producer in the world, and Oyak ranks third globally.

“We’re strengthening our leadership in Europe through Çimsa ÇBK”

Burak Orhun, President of the Sabancı Holding Materials Technologies Group, expressed his pride in the Çimsa ÇBK Mersin Women’s Basketball Team, who reached the final of the “EuroLeague Final 6”:

He said, “Sabancı Group companies aim for leadership in every area they operate in. Today, the most important criterion for leadership is global impact. This includes many elements: quality standards, technology, innovation capacity, success in sustainability, and of course, social impact.” He emphasized that, as the Sabancı Materials Technologies Group, they saw supporting the social development of the countries they operate in as a key responsibility:

He went on to say, “Çimsa applies this approach exceptionally well. The success of Çimsa ÇBK Mersin is a testament to that. We are proud of them. We will continue to both support and celebrate them.”

Çimsa CEO Umut Zenar shared that they had signed the naming sponsorship agreement with Çukurova Basketball Sports Club (ÇBK) Mersin last year and added; “Cement is a material that binds different components and holds large structures together. It’s a unifier, a strengthener. We see sports in the same way. We believe that sports are a powerful force that brings our country and our people together.”

Despite being a global company, Çimsa has never forgotten its responsibilities to Turkey and Mersin, Zenar added: “Our Çimsa ÇBK Mersin Women’s Basketball Team won the ‘ING Turkish Women’s Cup 2025’ and also reached the final in the ‘EuroLeague Final 6’, representing our country in the best possible way. Many female athletes will follow the path they’ve opened.”

He went on to say, “As Çimsa, we are reinforcing our leadership in the European construction materials sector through Çimsa ÇBK Mersin.” He also highlighted that their sponsorship included support for the “ÇBK Mersin Gelişim” (Development) Team:

“ÇBK Mersin Gelişim is a team of 16 young female athletes from cities like Adana, Bursa, and Hatay. As part of our long-term support strategy, we are also working on a comprehensive project to encourage middle and high school girls to take up basketball.”
