Central Bank of Turkey publishes forecast for yearend exchange rates

Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey has published the results of the expectations survey for yearend exchange rates. As of end 2018 exchange rate expectation for US dollar/Turkish lira went down to TL 5.64 whereas it was 5.99 according to the previous survey.

Just to remind, said exchange rate had exceeded 7 TL per dollar a few months ago prior to several measures taken by the administration to get the economy on the right track again. On the other hand the exchange rate expectation after 12 months was found TL 6.37.

The survey also revealed the following results: “Consumer inflation (CPI) expectation for November 2018 was 1.31 percent in the previous survey period and 0.88 percent in this survey period. The CPI expectation for December was 0.98 percent and 0.77 percent in the same survey periods, respectively. January CPI expectation for 2019 is 1.71 percent.
