China requests 200 million masks from Turkey against corona virus

Due to the outbreak of the new type coronavirus (2019-nVoC), China has requested 200 million masks from Turkey in the last 10 days. Experts say, masks are among the most important precaution measures against the disease. China, which is supposed to be one of the world’s largest mask manufacturers was unable to meet this need from the domestic market after the virus became an epidemic in the country.

Consequently, Turkey which is an exporter in mask production was among the countries receiving big orders from China. Manufacturers who want to meet China’s demand continue to work at full capacity.

One of the officials in the sector has shared following regarding the issue;

“This situation surprised us because China is one of the world’s largest mask manufacturers. We think their stocks are not enough because of the virus. Approximately 150 million masks are produced annually in Turkey. But China would like to receive 200 million masks at a time. Their companies contact companies in our country. They want our entire production at one shot. On the other hand some countries that meet the need for masks from China have also headed to Turkey.

The requested figures are very high. Turkey has a certain capacity. Besides, we had previous business contacts and we need to work for them as well. Requests came from countries such as Italy, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Germany. We’re working 24 hours a day to keep up with the production”.
