IHSANOGLUAfter weeks of haggling over a name for presidential candidate in the period leading up to the August election, the two main Turkish opposition parties, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), agreed on a joint candidate: former Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoğlu.

In a visit to the MHP on Monday, the CHP proposed İhsanoğlu, who served as secretary-general of the OIC from 2005 until 2013.
