Generally speaking, there is a huge demand for news in Turkey. The problem is that in Turkey’s mainstream media which cannot gain the trust of the public by doing accurate journalism, the interest of the public who can speak foreign languages has turned to the publications in those languages rather than Turkish media.

For instance those who speak English follow New York Times, The Guardian etc. Those who speak Arabic follow media in Arabic countries.

To provide a solid example, based on a small survey about news consumption habits, it is observed that in an environment where the Turkish mainstream media cannot be trusted anymore, citizens of Antakya follow publications such as Qatar-based Al Jazeera and the official organs of the Syrian regime.

They say “In order to get information about the Middle East and especially the Syrian War, we prefer media organizations that provide news from the source. In addition to television, the number of people who follow the news on the internet is also high.
