Compass Group, one of the global catering companies acquires Turkey’s Türkaş

The catering sector in Turkey has experienced economic difficulties during the last years like many other sectors living through same issues. Many companies operating in the sector had to close down and some others were acquired by foreign companies.

As a result of developments in this context, Türkaş Gıda is being bought by Compass Group, one of the biggest catering companies in the world.

Compass Group, which acquired 50 percent of the shares of Sofra Group, founded in 1987, from its partner STFA, is now acquiring one of the leading companies in the sector. Compass Group will take over Türkaş Gıda through Sofra company. Established in 1994, Türkaş Gıda has over 1,200 employees. Enerjisa, Akbank, Gedik Holding, Sabanci Holding, Sisecam, SOCAR, Eczacibasi Holding and Agaolu Group stand out among the companies that Turkas serve.

Türkaş provides transportation and on-site catering services to 76 thousand people in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Sakarya, Kocael and Tekirdag. Sofra Group on the other hand operates in 81 cities, serving 1.3 million meals a day.

Compass group has 560 thousand employees and a turnover of 23 billion pounds.
