CONSTRUCTION IN BODRUM

With the arrival of the tourism season in Bodrum, construction bans commenced on May 15. However, some companies are ignoring these bans and continuing their work.

In Bodrum, where Turkey’s most expensive residences, villas, and mansions are sold, the tourism season traditionally begins on April 15, followed by the start of construction bans on May 15. These bans, lasting from May 15 to October 15, prohibit construction activities that cause noise, unsightly appearances, and environmental pollution, including heavy transportation, excavation, and concrete work. Only minor work and renovations that do not disturb the surroundings are permitted. Infrastructure work can be conducted with special permission.

Ignoring the Ban

Despite the bans, construction companies in Bodrum are continuing their activities. It has been observed that companies, in their rush to complete projects, persist with noise and visual pollution, and heavy vehicles continue to operate. The disregard for the bans by construction companies has not gone unnoticed.

The President of the Bodrum Hoteliers Association, emphasized the urgent need for inspections to begin and pointed out that ongoing construction activities negatively impact tourism.
