Contractor of apartment building where 34 people were buried: My son also died in that building

An indictment has been prepared against the contractor of the apartment building in SANLIURFA in which 34 people lost their lives and 10 people were injured due to Kahramanmaraş-based February 6 earthquakes. The contractor under arrest stated in his defence that he had no fault with the collapse of the building, his own son had also lost his life in the wreckage of that building.

The indictment prepared within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office was sent to the Criminal Court.

PROJECT WAS CORRECT BUT THE APPLICATION WAS WRONG

In the indictment, following was noted: “It has been determined that all the etrium ends, which are the iron reinforcement of the structure, should be bent at an angle of 135 and made hooks, while all the etrium ends found in the debris field and examined were bent at an angle of 90. Although this issue was stated in accordance with the regulation in the project of the structure, it was seen that it was not realized in practice.”

LOW CONCRETE QUALITY

It has been understood that this situation is largely due to errors that occur during the production stage (improper aggregate use, high fine material content, insufficient compression, high water, cement ratio, incomplete curing, etc.).
