Corona panic in Ankara: THY plane from Iran makes emergency landing at Esenboga

Turkish Airlines flight TK879, departing from Tehran to Istanbul, made an emergency landing in Ankara on suspicion of ‘corona virus’. A state of emergency has been declared at Esenboga Airport.

It was reported that a passenger on the plane had symptoms of corona virus and the flight crew had decided to make an emergency landing. The TC-LOE tail-registered A330-300 landed at Esenboğa Airport around 10:45 a.m. and all passengers were screened.

All operations were carried out under the coordination of the Administrative Officer of Esenboğa Airport and 1 passenger was suspected of the virus.

All of the passengers are said to be quarantined after necessary medical screening. Some passengers allegedly have fever above normal levels, while some others were travelling from the Iranian city of Qom.
