It is reported that Turkish Airlines is going to increase the number of direct flights to Turkey’s tourism centers from abroad. Officials have stated that THY will thus continue its contribution to Turkey’s tourism. Within this scope, Turkish Airlines (THY) is scheduled to increase its tourism-oriented international flights and conduct 98 weekly frequency flights from 26 destinations abroad to Antalya, Izmir, Dalaman and Bodrum, during the summer season.

The announcement made by Turkish Airlines press consultancy said that Turkish Airlines, which had made a great contribution to the country’s tourism last year when a record number of tourists came to Turkey, would continue to do so in 2020, as well.

Accordingly, the number of weekly frequencies organized to Turkey’s tourism centers from abroad will be increased by 18 percent compared to last year. This new strategy referred to as the “Direct Tourism Initiative” was agreed on with a protocol signed by Turkish Airlines and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in October 2018. Officials have also voiced this move was the result of a rising demand for these flights, for the last two years.

It is also reported that thanks to the contribution of this new strategy, Turkey hosted a record number of tourists last year. Officials also believe that additional new flights will bring more qualified tourists and new records.

The statement from the Turkish Airlines press consultancy also shared some details about the flights, as follows: “During this summer period, 74 flights from 20 points will be conducted to Antalya per week.

On the other hand, while there were 7 weekly flights from Moscow to Antalya last year, the company has planned to increase this frequency by 100 percent in 2020 based on market research and increased demand.

Also, while only “one flight per week” frequency from Amman to Dalaman was performed last year, this year flights from 4 more points will be conducted. Turkish Airlines will perform 7 flights from London, 3 flights from Moscow and 2 flights from Amman and Kiev per week to Dalaman airport.

International flights to other tourist destinations such as Bodrum-Milas Airport from London, Kuwait and Munich are planned as 4 flights per week. Also a total of 5 flights from Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Kuwait to Izmir are planned.
