Court refuses application by Turkstat to prevent ENAG from publishing inflation statistics

The request made by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) about the Inflation Research Group (ENAG) was rejected by the court. Veysel Ulusoy, one of the founders of ENAG, announced the development of the case on his Twitter account.

ENAG (established by academic statistics experts) publishes inflation data every month, using a separate methodology as an alternative to TURKSTAT and announces official inflation. TURKSTAT filed a criminal complaint against ENAG last year – requesting the court to prevent ENAG from publishing and sharing results with public.

Veysel Ulusoy, one of the founders of ENAG, announced the development of the case on his Twitter account with the following words: “The request of the TURKSTAT to obtain an injunction against the Inflation Research Group was REJECTED by all courts.”

The decision was obviously evaluated as only fair, by the public – as this way it I possible for citizens to check the results publishes and share by Turkstat.
