CUNDA Island, a very unique holiday resort in AYVALIK of Marmara region

Cunda Island was once an island close to the AYVALIK district of BALIKESIR, but has now lost its function to be an island due to land connections. The road providing connection to the island was expanded, and a bridge was built. This road is also called GÖNÜL YOLU (Road to the heart).

When you come to this town with stone houses left from citizens of Greek origin once, you cross the bridge and turn left at the intersection where you meet the windmill and you come to the street of restaurants with many fish restaurants. There are many interesting buildings hidden in the architectural texture of Cunda and mind-blowing beautiful houses with cafes, bars, newly opened coastal cafes, tea gardens located in their gardens.

Here, one can also see see simple but attractive houses in gardens, cleanly painted door windows, facade decorations and more. Churches on the island also add a separate atmosphere here. Nevertheless, the icon of Cunda is the windmill located at the entrance to the island.

The back streets of the island are also full of restaurants with colorful street tables and chairs, so this place could be full with tourists. Guests are usually transported to the island of Ayvalik Cunda by land buses or sightseeing boats from the sea. Here guests mostly show interest in local clothes, blouses, souvenirs, paintings and trinkets, which are the symbol of AYVALIK.

CHURCHES IN THE ISLAND

Tourists wander along the narrow stone-lined streets where there are stone houses, the Church of Taksiyarhis in the style of Byzantine architecture located on the island, the Church of Panaya and others.
