Deadline approaching for driver’s license renewal

The General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs announced that the deadline to renew driver’s licenses issued before January 1, 2016, is December 31, 2024. As the year-end approaches, drivers are urged to complete the renewal process as soon as possible to avoid delays or processing backlogs.
Appointment Required for Renewal
Drivers must schedule an appointment for the renewal process through the Alo 199 Call Center, mobile applications, or the nvi.gov.tr website. A medical report, one biometric photo, and a renewal fee of 15 TL are required for the application, which can be made at all population directorates.
Licenses Delivered by PTT
Once the application is submitted, the new driver’s licenses will be printed by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs and delivered to the applicant’s address via PTT. In the meantime, drivers can use a temporary driver’s license obtained from population directorates or through the e-Government portal.
Higher Fees for Late Renewals
Drivers who do not renew their licenses by December 31, 2024, will be required to pay the full driver’s license fee, valuable paper fee, and foundation fee. For a B-class license, this total was set at 5,165 TL for 2024. The 2025 fee will be determined by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. Therefore, those who miss the deadline will face additional costs of over 5,000 TL to renew their licenses.
