Tourism professional says CESME will host 2 million tourists in coming years

Many holiday resorts such as Bodrum, Marmaris, Alanya, Kusadasi, Fethiye have developed rapidly in terms of tourism movements with summer populations of over 1 million. No wonder it is a true challenge to manage these beautiful spots as they face problems due to the insufficient infrastructure not good enough to serve booming number of people visiting said towns. CESME which is one of the most popular holiday resorts west of Izmir is certainly among these spots.

CESME is observed to have had its best season in 10 years, in 2021.  The town normally has a population of about 45,000. As expressed by a professional in the sector however, the population of CESME increases by 30-40 times the winter population during the summer season. The same expert says this almost corresponds to 2 million tourists in the coming years, and everyone should be ready for this tourism movement.

However the picture ahead does not seem to be very promising as the infrastructure of the town has not developed at the same speed, which will certainly cause problems in terms of infrastructure issues, in the coming years. In order to make preparations for this, authorities must work out and overcome infrastructure shortcomings, in the first place.
