Does Turkey have to get rid of Russian made S-400 missiles and how?

S-400 MISSILES TURKEY

As a result of the friction that began between Turkey and the United States some time ago, the United States did its best not to sell Patriot missiles to Turkey, citing various decoys. When Turkey was allowed to buy said missiles despite insistent demands, Erdogan turned to Russian-made S-400 missiles to ensure the safety of the country, and as a matter of fact entered into engagement with Russia and bought the S-400 missile system.

Obviously, the fact that Turkey, a Nato country, had bought weapons of Russian origin caused a much larger reaction on the US wing – although unfair.

These developments rather took place during the service of Donald Trump in White House and put Turkey in an irrevocable situation. So much so that the United States even pulled Turkey out of the F-35 program, a vital project, and declared that it would not sell this country F-35 aircraft. Currently, one of the biggest problems between two allies – supposedly – is “the destiny of S-400 system bought by Turkey”.

Realistically thinking, it’s almost seems impossible for the United States to tolerate this situation. On the other hand it is obviously out of question to return these missiles to Russia. Therefore, Turkey is now completely cornered because of the wrong choice it once made and the irreversible step taken at the time.

Everyone, including the Turkish authorities in the first place, says something about this dilemma, while the United States continues to push for a solution. Russia on the other hand surprisingly says two countries are about to conclude a new contract for sales of second party S-400 systems.

Apparently, the situation seems to a complete chaos and the more so after the statement below made by some Russian authorities involved in the issue.

Russia: new S-400 deal with Turkey nears end

An announcement was made by Russia’s military export company Rosoboronexport responsible for sales of S-400 systems. Speaking within the framework of the international air and space fair MAKS-2021, Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev suggested that a second agreement for S-400s between Turkey and Russia was close to be concluded.

If this is the case, the question is: Will things get more complicated, and most importantly, how will President Erdogan manage to get out of this chaos?
