Dollar/TL rate breaks narrow band of 13.5 moving over 14 after Russia operation
The dollar/TL started the day at around 14 this morning after rising as high as 14.62 yesterday and ending the day at around 14.
After the military operation launched by Russia in Ukraine, the dollar/TL broke the narrow band of 13.5 in an upward direction, for the first time since the beginning of the year. Experts note that during this period, a “14 level‘dam” was established in the dollar/TL with public-funded referrals (Central Bank).
The depreciation of the Turkish lira against the dollar exceeded 5 percent yesterday, while it lost more value than the currencies of the countries participating in the war. TL later cut its losses to 1 percent.
As of 08:30 this morning, the exchange rate was trading around 14.
