Donald Trump openly threatens Iran: “Either you sign, or I’ll bomb”
US President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Iran if Tehran does not reach an agreement with Washington regarding its nuclear program. Trump has stated that additional sanctions will be implemented depending on whether Iran reaches a deal on nuclear issues.
President Trump, speaking to the press on his way back to Washington from his weekend in Florida, commented on the ongoing situation. He was asked about the potential for additional sanctions on Iran. Trump responded, “There are a few additional sanctions provisions, including additional tariffs on Iran, and if we don’t see any progress, we will implement them in a few weeks. Right now, we are not implementing them.”
Trump added, “We will decide on additional tariffs based on whether they will reach an agreement. If they make a deal, we will never impose new tariffs.” He emphasized that he preferred Iran to reach an agreement, but argued that if not, things wouldn’t go well for Tehran. Trump also expressed belief that Iran would ultimately come to an agreement on nuclear issues.
“I’M VERY ANGRY”
In an interview with NBC News, President Trump discussed Russia and Iran, stating, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing.” He also suggested the possibility of imposing tariffs on Iran, similar to the ones he had implemented four years ago.
On March 7th, during an interview with Fox Business Network, President Trump revealed that he had sent a letter to Iranian leader Ali Khamenei. Trump said, “I wrote to them, ‘I hope you negotiate because if we have to get involved militarily, it will be a terrible thing.'”
On March 8th, Khamenei responded by saying that the US’s intention was not to solve problems through negotiations, but to impose its own demands and exert domination, which Iran would not accept.
Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, also responded to Trump’s threats on March 11th, saying, “I will not negotiate with you because you are threatening. Do whatever you want.”
Lastly, international media reported that Iran is considering offering indirect talks with the US through the United Arab Emirates as a mediator. The two countries had previously engaged in indirect talks through Oman at various levels.
