Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated, “Unfortunately, 19 of our citizens lost their lives in the first two days of the holiday (Saturday and Sunday).”

Minister Yerlikaya further explained, “On the second day of the Ramadan Bayram holiday (Sunday), 709 traffic accidents occurred. Unfortunately, 14 citizens lost their lives, and 1,280 were injured.”

He added, “These 14 lives leave behind grieving mothers, fathers, children, siblings, and relatives. Please, let’s obey traffic rules. Let’s not let our holiday joy be overshadowed by tragedy. Roads are meant to unite us, not separate us.”

In the first two days of the holiday (Saturday and Sunday), 19 citizens lost their lives, and 2,499 were injured. Throughout the 9-day Ramadan Bayram Holiday, the police and gendarmerie traffic teams continue their inspections. On the second day of the holiday, March 30, 2025, Sunday, traffic teams inspected 420,737 vehicles. Speeding and radar operations were carried out on 22,310 vehicles, and 18,049 vehicles were subjected to other operations. These inspections are not for imposing penalties but for preventing accidents and minimizing loss of life. I pray for mercy for those who lost their lives, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
