EasyJet Suspends Istanbul Flights, Adds Four New Routes Across Europe
EasyJet Adjusts Its Flight Network for 2026
British low-cost airline and tour operator EasyJet has announced major changes to its 2026 flight schedule. The company will halt flights from Bristol and Manchester to Istanbul Airport starting in March 2026, citing lower-than-expected demand and strong competition from Turkish Airlines (THY) and Pegasus on the same routes.
Currently, EasyJet operates three weekly flights from both Bristol and Manchester to Istanbul, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. However, as part of a broader route reshuffle, the airline is redirecting capacity toward new European destinations.
Four Fresh European Destinations Coming Soon
While the Istanbul routes will end, EasyJet is expanding its footprint in Europe with four new direct connections from the United Kingdom.
Starting March 5, 2026, Birmingham will gain new flights to Rome, operating four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. From April 4, 2026, flights from Edinburgh to Ljubljana will take off twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Additionally, Bristol to Reus flights will launch on June 25, 2026, operating on Thursdays and Sundays, while Bristol to Thessaloniki services will begin on June 27, 2026, flying on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
A Strategic Shift Toward Leisure and European Travel
EasyJet’s decision reflects a strategic pivot toward popular holiday routes within Europe. With increasing demand for city breaks and Mediterranean getaways, the airline appears focused on strengthening its position in short-haul European tourism rather than long-distance routes where competition is tougher.
Despite the Istanbul withdrawal, EasyJet remains committed to connecting UK travelers with vibrant cultural and coastal destinations across the continent.
