Winter Magic Returns: Tickets for the Touristic Eastern Express Go on Sale October 27
A Winter Journey Through the Heart of Anatolia
Turkey’s most picturesque train experience, the Turistik Eastern Express, is set to welcome travelers once again. According to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, the 2025–2026 winter season journeys will begin on December 22, offering passengers an unforgettable ride through the scenic and cultural heart of the country.
The minister announced that individual ticket sales will start on Monday, October 27, and the season will run until March 1, 2026. Since its debut in 2019, this iconic train has carried thousands of local and international travelers across stunning Anatolian landscapes, becoming a symbol of slow, immersive travel.
Sixty Enchanting Journeys Ahead
The train will operate a total of 60 round trips between Ankara and Kars. Departures from Ankara are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while return trips from Kars will run on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
A Postcard-Like Experience on Rails
More than just transportation, the Turistik Eastern Express is designed to be a cultural journey. Along the 1,360-kilometer route, travelers will enjoy extended stopovers — 2.5 hours in Erzincan, 4 hours in Erzurum on the way to Kars, and on the return route, 3 hours in İliç, 2.5 hours in Divriği, and 3 hours in Sivas.
The total journey lasts around 32 hours, offering panoramic views of snow-covered mountains, deep valleys, and historical landmarks — every scene like a living postcard from Anatolia.
Comfort Meets Tradition
The train accommodates 160 passengers, featuring eight sleeping cars with ten compartments each, and a cozy dining car. Each private compartment comfortably hosts two travelers, combining nostalgic design with modern comfort.

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the Turistik Eastern Express has become one of Turkey’s most distinctive tourism brands. Since 2019, more than 81,000 passengers have experienced this magical winter adventure — a journey that captures the soul of Anatolia, one railway at a time.
