With the decrease in cash purchasing power in Turkey, the use of smaller banknotes has steadily declined. In line with these developments, it has emerged that banks are preparing for a new era.

Şenol Babuşcu, the former Deputy General Manager of Ziraat Bank and an academic, shared the details of the upcoming change in ATMs.

WILL ONLY 200 TL BANKNOTES BE AVAILABLE IN ATMs ?

Babuşcu’s statements were as follows:

“Banks are now placing only 200 and 100 TL banknotes in ATMs. They have stopped placing 5, 10, and 20 TL banknotes, and even the 50 TL banknote is no longer being stocked. Starting from the beginning of 2025, they will only place 200 TL banknotes,” he said.

If this situation occurs, ATMs will enter a new era in 20 days.

WILL 500 TL BANKNOTES BE RELEASED?

Following this news, the question arose whether 500 TL banknotes would be issued.

According to the information obtained, 500 TL banknotes will be released in 2025, and it will be possible to withdraw 200 and 500 TL banknotes from ATMs.
