Economy in Turkey: 30 percent price hike in YHT (High Speed Train) tickets

9-day long “Sacrifice Holiday” has come to an end. Following the holiday, establishments have started to increase prices some goods and services offered by the public, as expected.

The first price hike news came from High Speed Train (YHT) tickets. TCDD (Railroads Authority) made a 30 percent increase on YHT tickets. After the increase, the Ankara-Istanbul YHT ticket price increased from 248 TL to 323 TL. Ankara-Konya increased to 146 TL, Ankara-Sivas increased to 312 TL and Ankara-Eskisehir increased to 136 TL.

AN INCREASE OF 30 PERCENT MADE

TCDD also made a 30 percent increase in freight transportation and commuter and passenger transportation fees. The increased prices will enter into effect from midnight.

TCDD had made several price increases in 2022 as well as follows: 20 percent in January, 10 percent in March, 15 percent in April, 28 percent in June and 10 percent in September as well as 17 percent in January 2023.
