Bloomberg has announced that a new study is being conducted on natural gas and electricity bills in Turkey. An unnamed official stated that the government aimed to support low-income households with lower bills and that the implementation would mean that energy tariffs could gradually increase as income or consumption increases.

With the arrival of May, the free natural gas support, which started in April 2023 and equated to approximately 25 cubic meters, has ended. While it is wondered whether there will be an increase in natural gas and electricity bills, Bloomberg, based in the USA, announced a striking claim. According to the news, a plan is being worked on to determine different natural gas and electricity tariffs for income groups.

A source speaking to Bloomberg, who requested anonymity, claimed that the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has been working on this plan for some time. The source stated that the government aimed to support low-income households with lower bills and that the implementation would mean that energy tariffs could gradually increase as income or consumption increases.

The fixed electricity unit price determined by EPDK is 4.4516 TL for businesses and 1.73 TL for residences. The electricity unit price in the free market is 0.5% cheaper.
