Economy in Turkey: Bonus of 5,000 liras for working retirees approved in the Parliament

The bill, which includes granting 5,000 liras to working retirees (or registered with the tax office), was approved in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly.

Retirees, expressing that their pensions were insufficient in the face of increasing inflation, had requested an increase, and upon the instruction of President Tayyip Erdoğan, a one-time payment of 5,000 liras was made to retirees who did not work.

The exclusion of working retirees from the scope had led to criticism. In response to the reactions, a step was taken for working retirees, and it was added as the 55th article to the economic law proposal in the Parliament.

The said bill was approved at the parliament.

The bonus is expected to be paid before the end of this month.
