Economy in Turkey: Borsa Istanbul achieves double record

Borsa Istanbul set new intraday and closing record levels on the last trading day of the week, while the strong upward trend in the banking index that began yesterday continued today.

Borsa Istanbul continued its rapid ascent from yesterday and reached intraday and closing highs of 9618 points. The banking index, which gained close to 6% in yesterday’s trading, saw an increase of over 4% today.

The BIST 100 index started the day with a gain of 1.61%, opening at 9275 points, and traded in the range of 9249-9618 throughout the day. The index closed at 9618 points, up 5.37%.

At the opening, the banking index recorded a 3.43% increase and the holding index a 2.84% increase, ending the day with increases of 4.47% and 5.43%, respectively.

From a technical perspective, resistance levels for the BIST 100 index are at 9350 and 9400, while support levels are at 9200 and 9100 points.
