President Erdogan has announced that an interim increase in the minimum wage will come in July. While leaving the parliament, Erdogan answered the question “You gave good news about energy and pensioners will also be given a raise. Will there be a rise in minimum wage?” In reply to this question the President said, ”We have already declared all of these hikes. I hope it serves them well.”

When asked the question “Will the minimum wage earners wait for the end of the year?”

Erdogan replied, ”There will be a hike in July.”

MINISTER BILGIN HAD SAID ‘IT IS NOT ON OUR AGENDA’

Minister Vedat Bilgin, on the other hand had said in a statement to journalists before the group meeting, regarding the allegations that the minimum wage will be raised  in July, “I have never talked about such a thing anywhere. The minimum wage, as you know, was announced as 8 thousand 500 liras. Inflation is falling. If the downward trend in inflation continues in July, there will be no need for a re-calculation in the minimum wage. We will re-evaluate in July, we will look at the conditions on that day. But there is no such thing at the moment.”
