Volunteers working like bees for earthquake victims in the “Soul Kitchen”

SOUL KITCHEN IN ISKENDERUN

200 thousand dishes of food are produced daily for disaster victims with the participation of volunteers belonging to different professional groups from home and abroad under the leadership of chefs Türev Uludağ and Ebru Baybara Demir in the Iskenderun district of Hatay.

Chefs Uludağ and Demir, based in Kahramanmaraş, took action to meet the food needs of earthquake victims following calls from the region after the earthquakes on February 6.

Chefs who contacted the Ministry of Youth and Sports supported the earthquake victims by making thousands of cups of food in student dormitories affiliated to the General Directorate of Loans and Dormitories in Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş and Adiyaman, with the support of philanthropists as well.

4 Days after the first earthquakes, two chefs who came to the Iskenderun district of Hatay with volunteers continue to produce food for victims of disasters from Hatay in the kitchen of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Male Student Dormitory in a shift system for morning, lunch, evening and sahur meals.

Volunteers from within the country and from countries such as England, Germany, Mauritania, Nepal are also participating in the activities of the formation, which the chefs call “Gönül Kitchen”, after hearing about this work in various media.

170 volunteers from many different professions, such as doctors, engineers, beauticians, chop potatoes, onions for use in cooking, prepare breakfast and sahur, wash dishes.

Meals prepared in 200 thousand containers per day are delivered to earthquake victims throughout Hatay in 4 meals with the vehicles provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and sponsors.
