Economy in Turkey: Which investment instruments gained most this week?
While stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul lost an average of 2.96% on a weekly basis, the dollar/TL increased by 1.49%, the Euro/TL by 0.61%, and the gram price of gold increased by 2.27%.
The BIST 100 index, after reaching its lowest point at 9,062.36 and its highest at 9,450.48 points during the week, completed the week at 9,097.15 points, losing 2.96% compared to the previous week’s closing.
The gram selling price of 24-carat gold bars traded at the Grand Bazaar increased by 2.27% this week to 2,073 Turkish Lira, while the selling price of Republic gold increased by 2.26% to 13,931 Turkish Lira.
The selling price of a quarter of gold, which was 3,335 Turkish Lira last weekend, rose to 3,410 Turkish Lira.
Dollar and Euro gained value
This week, the US dollar gained 1.49% to 31.5560 Turkish Lira, while the Euro increased by 0.61% to 33.9100 Turkish Lira.
Investment funds gained 0.60% this week, and individual pension funds gained 0.20%. Looking at the categories, the “Precious Metals” funds were the highest gainers with 2.72% within the investment funds.
